Our Easter

Wednesday, March 30, 2016

Easter was especially great this year, for many reasons. Brandon's dad was in town for Easter so we got to see him. His mom wasn't able to come this time around so we sure missed Grandma! Not only that but Brandon's grandma had a big birthday so we were able to go and celebrate with her the day before Easter. It was really good to see family, and meet another baby. Brandon's cousin had a 5-month old and it was our first time meeting her. She was not picky at all, and was such a good baby!

We had a little Easter egg hunt with Brandon's niece and nephews. It was fun watching them search for eggs, and it was fun to see Mason learn from them. He loves popping the eggs open. He watches this video on YouTube that has these surprise eggs so it must remind him of that video. He's a funny guy! He loves sweets so I treated him to some chocolates in his eggs :)

It was my first time being in my brother-in-law's house since my sister-in-law's passing. It was hard at first, and I anticipated that, but entering the house, and seeing her pictures, that was especially hard. I keep expecting her to walk out of their bedroom at any point. It feels like her presence is still there, which I loved. I can imagine her there laughing as her kids search for their Easter baskets. There is certainly an emptiness, her emptiness. But my brother-in-law and the kids' energy are wonderful, and their voices and laughters fills their house and my heart.

I am especially grateful to have been able to celebrate Easter with so many of our families this year.

February's Obsessions

Monday, March 14, 2016

February was fairly low-key for us. A lot of working, a lot of sleeping, and a lot of lazing around. Which meant a lot of Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime. We were obsessed with this show, this show, and this show.

This website satisfies my curiosity of what others are doing. I especially enjoyed reading this one, and this one.

I finally got around to ordering one of these, with my baby's birth date on it. I love wearing it.

I picked this and this up, and have been wearing them obsessively, at least once a week. I sized up to a Medium, and it comes right down to my knees, which is my preferred length. Price tag is awesome, and both pieces are machine washable.

Dribble Like a Pro

Wednesday, March 2, 2016

This weekend, we had about a minute of sunshine so we took to the backyard for some soccer lessons with Mason. Brandon got some cones and a soccer ball for him so he can kick around.

Dribbling like a pro already. Just kidding. He is still working on his feet-eye coordination, but it sure is fun to watch him as he figures things out.

They took a quick break to watch an airplane fly by.

Brandon teaching Mason how to flex. I love his little face so much.

Wouldn't this color combination together in an outfit be so outrageously awesome?!!!

I'm so grateful to be your mama.

Snow Day

Wednesday, January 27, 2016

We had a surprised snow day. I'm sure it was all over the news, but without cable, we don't really watch the news. So I woke up on a Sunday, and discovered the roads were covered. We only had the first hour of church, and spent an hour after church playing around. Mason was loving it, and he got to use the snow boots that his Uncle gave him for Christmas. He loved walking around in it, and he got to meet the neighbor's dog. The dog just about ran him over, but he loved it.

I'm not sure if we'll get any more snow here, but I sure hope so!

Good night!

4 Questions

Sunday, January 10, 2016

It's been a while! With the holidays, I've totally skipped out on the blog, but there's a lot of things going on in my head so I figure I could always turn here ;)

I was reading Oprah Magazine, and she had a column with these questions so I thought it would be a fun idea to do a little questionnaire myself.

1. I always feel transformed when I...get a new haircut. Nothing beats a fresh cut. You feel so revived. And I'm very much in need of a haircut!

2. When I need a dose of inspiration, I...read a good career book. And I just read a very, very good one that I will share with you soon.

3. I'd love to let go of...self doubt. I was reading an interview with Kat Cole, and she talked about just going for it, and not waiting until everything is perfect. I love her interviews since she doesn't just tell you what she did, but she also gives you lots of good tips and motivation. It would be so awesome to have a mentor like her.

4. One tiny change I made that had a big impact was...not drinking soda. I usually stick with water, unless it's a special occasion, then I'll have a Coke. I know, I know. So gluttonous :) But I actually enjoy water.

Have a great week! I hope you take this week by the horn!
