Flash Clean

Wednesday, April 29, 2015

I saw this in store, and was intrigued by what it promises. When I use mascara, the only kind that I reach for is waterproof because it holds my curls better. However, when it comes to taking off my mascara, it is a lot of work. I have tried a lot of different make up wipes, and none has taken off all my mascara. Most will just give me raccoon eyes. And on the back of this bottle, it says that "it releases powerful cleansing agents to quickly break up the most stubborn makeup, even waterproof mascara." After using this, I definitely agree that it will take off the most stubborn makeup. The price is also right on point.

The way that I used it was more of a makeup remover. However, you can use this as a makeup remover, cleanser, and moisturizer. The directions on the bottle states, "With eyes closed, apply lotion to face directly with fingers or on a cotton pad. Gently massage all over face and wipe clean with a cotton pad. No rinsing necessary." I haven't tried it that way yet, but I have my own cleanser and moisturizer that I like so I prefer to use it strictly to remove my face in lieu of a make up wipe.

What are some of your favorite make up removers?

hey sugar!

Friday, April 10, 2015

Best friends share their favorite beauty products with you. And my girlfriend sure did share, and I love it! I was a previous Vaseline addict. I've tried too many products that sit on top of my lips, and does nothing for my lips after a while. This is a serious my favorite product for my lips right now. It moisturizes my lips very well, and makes all my lipsticks easier to glide on. My lips used to get chapped more often, but now I totally use this, maybe once a day.

Have you tried this? What are your thoughts?

Have a great weekend!

Philosophy Miracle Worker Miraculous Anti-Aging Retinoid Eye Repair

Saturday, March 14, 2015

I've been trying this deluxe sample of the Philosophy Miraculous Anti-Aging Retinoid Eye Repair, and it has been amazing. It absorbs quickly and I have noticed a big difference since I do have wrinkles at the corner of my eyes. I don't have to use a whole bunch so it's lasted me nearly a whole month, and I used it morning and evening. I can't wait to grab a full size!

Kiehl's Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate

Sunday, February 22, 2015

The reviews on this product are off the charts! So of course, I feel a little bummed giving this product a not so great review. This serum just did not work for me, and I so wish it did! This is an anti-wrinkle treatment and has 10.5% Vitamin C. The two main ingredients are glycerin and Vitamin C. The glycerin puts moisture into  your skin, and the Vitamin C is an antioxidant and helps with aging skin. I'm about half way through my bottle, and I haven't noticed a dramatic difference in my skin. When you put this serum on your face, it goes on feeling like a primer. I don't notice any difference in my pores, but it does have that consistency when applied to your face. I was using this morning and night, before my moisturizer. A caution if you have pimples, or acne-prone skin - this will burn those open areas on your skin! I had a little bump on my forehead, and didn't think twice about using this, and when I did, it totally did not feel good.

Have you tried this? And did it work for you?

Thanks for reading!

Fresh Soy Face Cleanser

Sunday, February 8, 2015

I've been using the Fresh Soy Face Cleanser in the evening, and I have been loving it! This is for all skin types, and it is a very gentle gel cleanser. This product has the following ingredients to help with various skin needs:

-Amino acid-rich soy proteins help maintain elasticity and health skin
-Rosewater is notable for its calming and balancing properties
-Calming cucumber extract aids in soothing the skin
-Borage seed oil helps to nourish

This cleanser has no parabens, sulfates, or phthalates. The cucumber extract is very prominent, and probably my favorite part of this cleanser. I like using this in the evening because it smells so relaxing, and makes me feel like I'm at the spa. This make my skin feel super soft and "fresh". If you are looking for a super gentle cleanser, this would be a great one!

garnier skin renew dark spot corrector

Sunday, December 28, 2014

I've been using the Garnier Skin Renew Dark Spot Corrector for a couple of months now, and it's time for a review! I'm nearly done with the cream. I've been using it as a serum, so after my eye cream, and before my moisturizer. I put this all over my face except for under my eyes, or on my eyelids. This cream contains 5% Vitamin C. Vitamin C helps your skin repair itself, and helps with aging. It also helps brighten your face.

I've used a couple of the Garnier skin care products before, and really liked them so I was excited to try the spot corrector. However, after a couple of months of using this consistently, I have not seen my dark spots disappear. I'm almost done with this product, and I don't plan to repurchase. I think this product would be good for preventative skin care; however, based on my experience, this product does not get rid of dark spots. My dark spots are mainly sun spots so this may help with acne scarring, or other types of dark spots.

The cream itself is not too thick. It has a nice scent, and is not overpowering.

I was really hoping that a drugstore product could solve my spot issues; however, I'll be trying some other new products. Let me know if you have any favorites that I should try!

my mascara search

Friday, December 19, 2014

i have the shortest, puniest, thinnest eyelashes known to man, or should i say known to woman? they are so weak. if your lashes determined your survival, i would have long been gone because these lashes are just going to cower and fall dead. since i have been researching, reading, asking friends, and doing all that fun stuff, i thought i would just post about it.

just a side note that these mascaras may work for your lashes. heck, you might even love them! but again as noted above, my lashes aren't regular, normal, and cooperative lashes. they are quite the opposite so these are just based on my opinion and my experience.

during my research, i learned that:

1. more expensive is not necessarily better.
2. i need dry formulas. a wet mascara will make my lashes uncurl in about 2 seconds.
3. waterproof is a must.

my cousin recommended this mascara to me. i really wanted to love it and it's actually the first mac product i tried. when i first opened the tube, i had some hope since it looks fairly dry. the minute i put it on my lashes, i knew, this was not the one. moving on.

i tried this a couple of years ago, and it didn't work for me. but my cousin recommends using either of the two mac mascaras on here and then using this over it. i really liked the brush. it's more of those plastic brush head and doesn't put a ton of product on your lids, so i was thinking that would not be too bad. however, again, when i put it on over the mac mascaras, this did not work very well. i blame it mainly on the mac mascaras since those completely uncurl my lashes. after that, there is no point of return. unfortunately.

i've been on this tarte kick. i am just loving their tinted moisturizer, foundation and blushes. i love how natural their products are! upon opening this, i had some hope. it looks to be on the more dry side. however, upon application, this did zilch for me. nada. i'm so sad since again, i wanted to love everything tarte.

my cousin loves her dior mascaras. i tried two previously before this. i can't recall the names of those, but they were way wet. i mean, uncurled and actually made them droop more. it's like someone kicking you when you are already down. the lady at the dior counter recommended this one. i have to say, i love the brush and the distribution of products. however, another wet formula. i won't be trying another dior mascara after this. it's a bit tiring and disappointing.

this is the other mac mascara my cousin recommended. super wet and the minute i opened it, i knew i was doomed.

i had this in my arsenal during this whole trial and error period. i like the curved brush. and to tell you the truth, most maybelline mascaras have been good friends to my lashes. they've been kind and helpful. this is not a favorite, but it does the job.

a friend recommended this mascara. one end (left end) is for the upper lashes. right end is for the lower lashes. since my top lashes are barely there, you can only imagine my lower lashes. i really should use the right end for my upper lashes lol. again, this is more on the dry side so i have been using this. i wouldn't say it's my favorite, but it does what it's supposed to for the most part.

i was using this for awhile. i actually got the falsies because i couldn't remember that it was the turbo that i loved. i haven't yet replaced this one since as you can see, i have a bunch of mascaras to go through. but i love this mascara a lot. this is probably my favorite of all these mascaras.

while at ulta, my friend recommended this. and i must say, i love using this as a first coat. i let it dry and then apply one of the other mascaras on and it seems to help a bit. i love that the mascara doesn't put a whole bunch of product on my lashes, however, if i wanted anything dramatic, i needed to load up on this. the brush itself won't put a bunch on. but at the same time, that's what i like about it.
i'm currently experimenting with lash extensions, which is nice because i don't have to worry about mascaras. however, let me know if you have any favorite ones that i should try in the future!

origins plantscription anti-aging eye cream

Monday, December 15, 2014

it's been a while since i've been back in this space, but i'm back for good! this has been my space to write about things i love & enjoy. while i love being a mom, i do love beauty, fitness and fashion so i'll write more often, and more about those things!

i've been using this eye cream. if you notice, most of my skin products are from origins. i love that they use organic ingredients, and don't have all those bad ingredients, like parabens. i've been using this eye cream for a couple of months now, and yes, it lasted me that long. the cream is lighter, and absorbs very fast into your skin. however, i haven't noticed much difference in my under eye area. i am starting to have crow's feet so i need to make sure that is in check! and although i do love that they don't have the harsh ingredients, this eye cream just doesn't quite do the job for me.

do you have a favorite eye cream that you love? do share! i'm always looking to try new products!

the best infant tub

Saturday, September 20, 2014

to be fair, mw is my first & i have yet to try a lot of different tubs. this was my first reach, after reading the reviews online and looking at it in person. as a first time mom, there are a lot of cool stuff out there, and a lot of the times, it's all about preference. what works for some moms might not work for others, no matter how great the product is.
however, after using the 4 moms infant tub, i have to declare this as the best infant tub because of a lot of helpful features. first and definitely at the top of my list is the temperature gauge. although i knew what felt comfortable to me as far as the water temperature was concerned, i wasn't really sure what would be optimal for mw. there is a range of temperatures that is optimal for a baby and anytime you go over that, the tub will start beeping to let you know which is nice because whenever we bathe him, we don't always look at the temperature gauge. secondly, the side drains (you can see that below) lets the dirty water out so that there is always clean water coming in and dirty water going out. this is nice so that we don't have to rinse him after using soap since the dirty water will go out and he's getting rinsed with clean water. one of the last features that we like is that it fit single and double sinks. our last place has double sinks and our current place also has double sinks so it makes giving him a bath much easier.

one complaint that i do have is the lack of support, especially when mw was tiny. bd just puts his hands under mw's head for support, but it would be nice to have an insert for more cushion.

happy bathing!

review: origins mega-bright skin tone correcting serum

Friday, August 22, 2014

if you have read this post, then you know that dark spots are my nemesis. i'm still trying to figure out what works for these darn dark spots and i tried origins mega-bright skin tone correcting serum, but it didn't do anything for my dark spots. i do love the way it smells and how it feels on my skin, but that doesn't justify using this. when a serum promises something, that is what i expect so unfortunately as much as i love all things origins, this product is a thumbs down for me.

on a happier note, happy friday!
